Client: Pia Zeitzen and Sasha Shevchenko/ Christie's Next

Brief: Christie's NEXT is an initiative that offers an exciting opportunity for emerging artists to jumpstart their careers in the art world with an exhibition hosted at Christie's King Street. The initiative is open to talented young artists and curators either currently studying or recently graduated, and not represented by a commercial gallery. Selected by open call, the artists and curators are provide with all the resources and support to put on their exhibition. The winners of the curator open call, Pia Zeitzen and Sasha Shevchenko, approached the Creative Studio at Christie's to help create an exhibition title and identity around their chosen theme of 'Absurdity':

'The concept of the exhibition responds to the current state of global uncertainty by proposing an investigation of the Absurd. In a world that stopped making sense, this project reverts to embracing that which is outside the hegemonic and established narratives, that which is often deemed as ‘invaluable’, ‘pointless’ and ‘nonsensical’, that which is absurd. The following artist open call lends itself as an invitation to such collective envisioning'.
